Welcome to The Strand; our comfortable and conveniently situated motel/apartment style accommodation. Situated north of the city and just a short walk to New Plymouth's lovely popular coastal walkway and both East End and Fitzroy swimming and surf beaches are only a few short blocks away.

You will also find nearby the skate park, inline hockey/skating rinks, children's playground and enjoy a great coffee or an icecream from nearby cafes

The walkway extension goes beyond Bell Block, creating over 10kms to wander along the seafront, great for walking or cycling on the shared board walk.

We are a local family owned and operated run motel with ground floor studios and one bedroom units in the original block and the new addition in 2021 to the motel complex has been the long awaited project of 8 x one bedroom apartments.

This newly opened in February 2021, the two storey addition has 4 x one bedroom apartments downstairs (each with outdoor seating and a private courtyard) and 4 x one bedroom apartments upstairs (with juliet balconies.) The planning and building process was definately a labour of love....

If you are wanting modern, stylish, comfortable and well appointed accommodation these are a must try. The apartments have double gib for a peaceful and quiet stay. Each apartment has a super king bed at the back of the apartment and two king single beds in the lounge. The kitchens have been personally designed and built by the owner from Bamboo wood to create a modern yet warm feel. The kitchens have a full sized fridge/freezer, dishwasher and stove top if you are wishing to cook and stay in and relax. The bathrooms are modern and fresh with heated towel ladders, tiled and glass showers and warm wooden vanity tops.

The original part of the motel complex accommodation (all ground level) offers 4 x one-bedroom units (4 people maximum) 3 x Superior Queen Studio units (2 people maximum) and 1 x Cosy Saver Studio that sleeps a maximum of 2 people.

From June to December 2021 all of the one-bedroom units and Superior Queen Studios have been fully renovated offering more modern and stylish accommodation. Brand new bathrooms with glass and tiled showers and floors, new kitchens, vinyl, carpet, blinds/curtains and a complete interior paint job have completed these spacious units. There are new lounge and dining chairs also.

The one bedroom units are very spacious and have their own private and secure courtyard with outdoor furniture. The Superior Queen Studios also have outdoor areas with seating. Please not the smaller Cosy Saver Studio has no outdoor area, but is perfect for sleeping one person for more than one night.

NEW double glazing and joinery was installed into all of the units back in July 2013 which has add to a more comfortable and relaxing stay for all guests. Every unit also has a quiet and efficient AC/heat pump and SKY tv.
